First Omicron case in Kerala reported at Ernakulam

The first Omicron varient of coronavirus infection was confirmed in Kerala. A native of Ernakulam from the UK was diagnosed with the disease. But there is no cause for concern, said Health Minister Veena George. The Omicron variant was discovered in a native of Ernakulam who came from the UK. The omicron virus in Kerala has been confirmed by conducting sample tests at the Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Center in Thiruvananthapuram and in Delhi.

The passenger, who arrived in Abu Dhabi from the UK, arrived in Kochi on the sixth day. Although he passed the first test, he tested positive on the eighth day. His wife and mother were taken to hospital after being diagnosed with Covid. Their sample test result is awaited. His wife and mother are currently under observation.

Meanwhile Covid-19 has been confirmed for 3777 people in Kerala today. Thiruvananthapuram 808, Ernakulam 590, Kozhikode 505, Kannur 249, Kottayam 242, Kollam 229, Thrissur 224, Malappuram 212, Idukki 182, Pathanamthitta 170, Wayanad 110, Alappuzha 96, Kasaragod 80 and Palakkad 80 were tested postive for coronavirus in the districts today.
