THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Families without ration cards in the state will be issued the card within 24 hours if they apply. The government has issued a directive to take action. Currently, only applications for families without a ration card are being considered. Transfer of ration card from one taluk to another taluk but due to lockdown, ration card cannot be issued from the new taluk. The decision comes after complaints that the central and state governments were not supplying essential supplies in the wake of the lockdown.
Guidelines for applying for the card have been released. Applications should be made online through Akshaya Centers or Citizen Login. The Director of Civil Supplies has said that due to social exclusion, applications for online applications should be accepted and completed. Applications for Taluk Supply Offices will not be accepted in the current situation. Strict action will also be taken against those who provide false information for the ration card.
