Sticking to its earlier promises, Facebook has started the verification process of political advertisers in the US. From now onwards, anyone who wishes to market political messages in facebook, would have to submit a government issued ID card, along with a valid email address as well. After submitting all these necessary documents, Facebook would be mailing a letter, with a unique access code attached to it. The access code can be used by the facebook page admin.
Last month, the social media giant has made it clear that anyone, who publishes political ads, would have to reveal their identity. Only verified users would be able to send political messages and the messages would be labeled as ‘political’. The move is in line with making facebook more transparent.
