Facebook is reportedly planning to launch a home video chat product, ‘Portal’ in May this year. ‘Portal’, which is in line with Amazon’s Echo Show and Google Assistant enabled touchscreens, is expected to be sold out for $499. ‘Portal’, if finished will be Facebook’s first ever finished hardware product. Coming from Facebook’s Building 8 lab, ‘Portal’ will be equipped with a wide angle lens. The lens reportedly is capable of recognizing individual faces and associating them with facebook accounts.
If we have to believe the reports from tech insiders, then Facebook ‘Portal’ will have access to outside streaming services such as Spotify and Netflix.
