Facebook, with an aim of competing with the likes of Google, has partnered with Universal Music Group (UMG) for music streaming. The multiyear agreement, details of which are not unavailable, will see UMG licensing the recorded music and publishing catalogues for video on Facebook’s platform. Besides facebook, the services will be available across various facebook owned platforms such as Instagram, Messenger as well its Virtual Reality (VR) platform Oculus.
While launching the service, UMG officials maintained that partnership with facebook, will create a dynamic platform for music lovers, artists as well as song writers.
