Facebook in an attempt to race ahead the rest of the tech biggies, has acquired a biometric ID verification startup – Confirm. The startup, which mainly functions with an Application Programming Interface (API), comes handy in the processes of verifying govt. issued IDs. Details of the amount involved in the deal are yet to reach the public.
With Facebook taking over ‘Confirm’, the latter’s existing authentication products will come to an end now. The latest acquisition by Facebook must be read along with the social media giant’s controversial Aadhaar data collection plans.
