Eratupetta natives, who went missing in Kodaikanal, were found in the forest

Two missing members of a group of five who had gone on an excursion to Kodaikan from Thevarupara in Eratupetta have been found. Altaf (24) and Hafiz (23), son of Mullupara Basheer, were found in the Poondi forest of Kodaikan after days of searching.

They were part of the group that left on New Year’s Eve. The five-member group had taken two rooms in a home stay at Poondi in Kodaikanal. Altaf and Hafiz were in the same room. Those who were with them said that two people went missing in the group that went trekking inside the Poondi forest.

The search for them continued for two days. The Kodaikanal police first conducted a search on the family’s complaint. The two were found by the Eratupetta police who came here later. The police was also accompanied by a search team called Nanamkootam, a social organization from Eratupetta.

They were found at around 4 am by two laborers who had gone to cut firewood in an area called Katrikava, 25 km away, which is home to wild animals including elephants of the Poondi forest.
