Elderly woman beaten to death by domestic workers; Two people, including a woman, were arrested

Two persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly woman inside her house. Satyabhama and Basheer, both natives of Chittoor, were arrested by the police on Monday. The police said that the duo had come to work on the construction of the old woman’s house and tried to break the garland on Saturday afternoon and during this the murder was committed.

On Saturday night, Padmavathi (74) was found murdered inside the house at Attinkalveet, Thiruvalathur, Kodumb. After the death of her husband, Padmavati lived alone in the family home. The son and his family are in another house adjacent to the family home. Padmavati was found dead on Saturday night when the son came to call his mother for dinner. The dead body was injured in the neck. The necklace of three gods around the neck was also missing.

In the initial investigation, it was clear to the police that the incident was a murder during a robbery attempt. The post-mortem report also found that force on the neck was the cause of death. Later, the two accused were arrested during the investigation conducted by the police.

Some construction work was going on in Padmavati’s house. Satyabhama and Basheer are the ones who came to work for it. According to the police, the two accused had planned the theft three days before knowing that Padmavati was alone at home. On Saturday afternoon, while other workers were eating, the duo walked out of the workplace saying that they had not brought food and were leaving. Then he entered Padmavati’s house and tried to break her necklace. When Padmavati tried to resist the robbery attempt and identified the accused, the two men killed them together. Padmavati was killed by strangling her neck. Then he stole the necklace and ran away.

The stolen necklace was sold by Basheer at a jewelery store in Chittoor. Three days ago, Sathyabhama had come to the same jeweler and asked if he would take the necklace. The police said that this is the main evidence that the theft was planned days before. Both the arrested accused were produced in the court and remanded.
