‘Drishyam 2’, like its predecessor, set several new benchmarks in Malayalam film industry. Despite being a direct OTT release, the level of reach, which this Jeethu Joseph directorial has achieved, is unparallel in Malayalam film industry. While the director, and actors grabbed the limelight, there is one guy, whose works astonished even Mohanlal. It is none other than Rajeev Kovilakam, the art director of ‘Drishyam 2’. Right from the design of Georgekutty’s house to that of the tea shop, the hard work put in by Rajeev was evident. While speaking to a leading media house, Rajeev Kovilakam described the challenges that he had faced, while creating sets for ‘Drishyam 2’.
However, there is one piece of work in the movie, which stunned even Mohanlal. The design of the Forensic Lab, is something that earned rave reviews for Rajeev. The actual Forensic Lab in Kottayam remained unavailable for shooting, due to covid protocols. Thus, Rajeev and team had to design and create a forensic lab, from the scratch. For that purpose, the team had converted a badminton court in Kalamassery, to that of a replica of the Kottayam Forensic Lab. That said, most artists mistook the set for an actual forensic lab.
