Chinese ride hailing company Didi Chuxing is reportedly working with a number of established automakers in an attempt to develop purpose built cars. The purpose built cars would be used for Didi’s services, as against the regular passenger cars, which it uses now. By means of purpose built cars, Didi would be incorporating more electric vehicles in its platform. While sharing their dream of establishing an ‘open platform’, Didi maintained that they wanted to share its customer and operational skills with those of automakers. That means, automakers would be able to develop their own ride sharing operations. By this way, Didi is envisioning itself as a provider of integrated transportation services.
That said, Didi is already in talks with Chinese funded electric car start up CHJ Automotive and GAC Motor. After a fully fledged roll out of the service, Didi is expecting to go for operations on a worldwide scale.
