Earlier this day, the news of a group of ‘Rashtriya Bajrang Dal’ activists destroying a movie set in Aluva, created an unprecedented response everywhere. It was the set of Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Minnal Murali’ that was subjected to the vandalism by a group of people. Shocked by the act, the entire mainstream of the society vehemently criticized the act. Lead hero Tovino wrote on Facebook that a group of racists had broken their film set and warned that, they would proceed with legal action, as the filming was set to begin after the lockdown.
This Basil Joseph directorial had erected a Christian mosque at Aluva, by art director Manu Jagad, by taking necessary permission from authorities. The set, which cost millions of rupees, was left by the team in the midway, as the nation had entered lockdown.
Well, Rashtriya Bajrang Dal district president Kaari Ratheesh (Ratheesh Kalady) has been arrested. He was arrested by the Investigation team led by Additional SP NJ Sojan. The investigation team maintained that Ratheesh was the master plan behind the conspiracy. Police officials maintained that the search for other group members is progressing. Ratheesh, in the past, has been involved in several cases. He was also convicted and had the history of jail sentence in connection with the murder of a person, called Sanal two years ago.
Producers’ Association and FEFKA have filed a complaint before Aluva Rural SP regarding the incident. The cases have been registered under sections 379, 454 and 427 of the IPC. The big budget movie is being bankrolled by Sophia Paul.
