Meanwhile, singer and music director Bhavatharini Ilayaraja, daughter of Tamil music director Ilayaraja, passed away yesterday. He was 47 years old. He died in Sri Lanka.
Bhavatharini, who was suffering from cancer for a long time, went to Sri Lanka for Ayurvedic treatment. She has sung songs in Tamil and Malayalam. Bhavatharini Ilayaraja sang the song ‘Kalyanapallakil Velipayayan’ in the Malayalam movie ‘Kaliyaunjaal’.
Bhavatharini has also sung songs in Malayalam films like My Dear Kuttichathan and Ponmudipuzhyorat. She won the National Award for Best Female Singer in 2000.
