CSIR UGC NET 2017: apply now

CSIR – UGC, has invited applications from eligible candidates to apply for the National Eligibility Test (NET), to be held on December 17th this year. The examination is meant for post graduates in science to be eligible for lectureship as well as research in concerned departments. While there is no age bar for applying only to lectureship, however candidates should not cross 28 years, if they wish to become eligible for Junior Research Scholarship (JRF). For women, OBC, SC, ST and PH candidates, there would be an exemption of 5 years in the upper age limit; the age is calculated as on 2017 July 1st.

Candidates, who have earned post graduate degree in concerned science subjects, with a minimum of 55% marks, are eligible to apply for the examination; reserved candidates need to score only 50% marks in qualifying examination. Candidates, who are still pursuing the course, too are eligible to apply for CSIR UGC NET, provided that they would be able to produce the certificates within 2 years of result declaration.

To be held on December 17th this year, there are two centres in Kerala – Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi; the examination is consisted of 3 parts. Fee for general candidates are INR 1000; INR 500 for OBC and INR 250 for SC, ST, PH and VH candidates. The last date to receive online applications, is September 16th, while by September 23rd candidates have to submit the printout and supporting documents before the authority.
