Former IT Secretary and Senior IAS Officer M. Sarith says that he met Shiva Shankar through Swapna. Sarit said that although there was a conspiracy to smuggle gold from Shivshankar’s flat, he did not take part in it and that Shivshankar did not know about the gold smuggling. It is said that parties are held in the same flat.
As the owner of the flat where the gold smuggling conspiracy took place Shivshankar will be questioned by the Customs Preventive Section. Sarith met Sandeep through Swapna. Revealing that Sandeep Nair is the main link in the gang in Kerala, Sarith said that he and Swapna get a loan of around Rs 10 lakh. The beginning of the reward was in the tens of thousands.
Sarit told officials that the money was spent on luxury hotels and other facilities and that he had no savings and financial problems. It is said that he met Fareed through Sandeep. Sarith has said that Sandeep has links with sellers including Ramis and many do not know his name but can be identified by sight.
The investigation team verbally told the court that the defendants had wrapped the hidden parcels of gold after understanding the technical specifications of the scanners installed at the airport. This will be checked with the help of technical experts.
