Colleges in Kerala to have Two Vacations in a Year

Colleges in Kerala to have Two Vacations in a Year: Higher Education Council Governing Body, which has conducted meeting under the prefecture of Education Minister C Raveendranath, will bring some notable changes to the collegiate education system. During the meeting, it was decided to introduce two separate vacations of one month each to colleges, as against the current practice of a two month vacation given at summer. That said, the vacation would be given at May and November months, against April – May months. The movement is aimed at easing out the evaluation procedures of examination papers under semester system.

Another decision, which the council has taken, was that of establishing an Open University. Similarly, the meeting has envisaged conducting classes by high qualified faculty members from abroad in Universities in Kerala. A common education calendar too is envisioned to be introduced for all the Universities in the state.
