Facebook launched Messenger Kids App in December last year as a means of providing chat facility to kids under parental guidance. The app also doesn’t require kids owning a separate Facebook or Messenger account. However a group of experts comprising from various social backgrounds have composed a letter to Facebook over the app.
The letter pointed out Messenger Kids was creating a new habit, rather than meeting an existing need. The expert panel has also questioned the motive behind Messenger Kids app, which lets kids under 13 to have a verified social media presence. While facebook had earlier mentioned about not showing any advertisements in the app, it however is yet to respond to the fresh lease of comments.
