It was found that the gold was smuggled in the car of Jalal, the accused in the gold smuggling case. A secret compartment was also found in the car. The car seized from Muvattupuzha was taken to the Kochi customs office.
Customs had identified Jalal as the one who sent people to smuggle gold into the country through various airports. Apart from the airports in Kerala, he was found to have smuggled gold through Chennai, Mumbai and Bengaluru airports.
Jalal and two others were arrested by customs after Ramis was arrested and remanded in custody for smuggling gold through a diplomatic channel. Jalala was the one who got the gold from Ramis.
