Big win for Mollywood: Biju Menon, Director Sachy, Nanchamma win National film Awards

In a fantastic win for Mollywood, the 68th National Film Awards were announced on Friday and Aparna Balamurali, Biju Menon, late director Sachy and singer Nanchamma are among the award winners.

Aparna Balamurali bagged the best actress award for the Tamil movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’. Biju Menon bagged the best supporting actor for ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. Sachy won the award for Best Direction (Ayyappanum Koshiyum).

Meanwhile, the Best Actor award has been shared by Ajay Devgn for ‘Tanhaji’ and Suriya for ‘Soorarai Pottru’.

‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ bagged the award for best film in the Malayalam language. Singer Nanchamma won the best playback singer award for the ‘Kalakkatha Sandhanameram’ song in the movie ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Mafia Sasi, a veteran stuntman from Kerala and his team members Rajasekhar and Supreme Sundar bagged the award for best stunt choreography for the same movie.

‘Dreaming of Word’, a Malayalam documentary directed and produced by Nandan, bagged the best education movie award.

‘Vaanku’ directed by Kavya Prakash won the special jury mention. Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar won best audiography award for Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Malik’. Another Malayalam movie ‘Kappela’ won national award for best production design.
