Big Changes in UGC NET 2018 exam Pattern

CBSE has brought some marked changes in the examination pattern of UGC NET (National Eligibility Test). The examination, which is to take place on July 8th this year, will have only two papers, contrary to the current pattern of three papers. While CBSE has retained the pattern of the first paper, which is of general in nature, they have merged Paper I and Paper II to form a single paper. The first paper will be comprised of 50 questions, while awarding 2 marks to each question. On the other hand, Paper II from now onwards, would have 100 questions, again carrying 2 marks for each question.

Another marked change, which CBSE has brought in, was that of increasing the age limit for awarding JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). From the existing age limit of 28 years, CBSE has raised the upper age limit to 30 years. The official notification is yet to be published and is expected to be out by February 1, this year. Online registration would begin from March 1st onwards.
