Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has acquired a duplex flat for Rs 31 crore. He owns a 5,184-square-foot flat on the 27th and 28th floors. The 34-storey building also houses Bachchan’s six car parks. Actress Sunny Leone and director Anand L. Bachchan’s neighbors are Rai. Sunny Leone bought a 4365 sq ft flat for Rs 16 crore and Roy bought a duplex flat for Rs 25 crore.
Bachchan sent stamp duty of Rs 62 lakh on a flat he bought in the Atlantis building in Andheri West. The transaction, which took place on December 31, resulted in a profit of over Rs 90 lakh on stamp duty. Last year, the government reduced the stamp duty from 5 per cent to 3 per cent to reverse the recession in the real estate sector following the lockdown. This was until December 31st. Buying a flat during this time saved you so much money on duty.
The duty relief was 3 per cent for September-December 2020 and 2 per cent for January-March 2021. At that time there was a huge rush for property registration. The government had allowed only duty to be paid and registration to be done by July 31 to avoid congestion.
