Avatar 2 will not be released in Kerala, says FEUOK

Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala on Tuesday said that they will not co-operate with the makers of Avatar : The Way of Water and its release due to disagreement with the profit sharing clause in the agreement with the filmmakers.

The film which is scheduled to release on December 17, will not be screened in 400 theatres under the organisation.

According to the office bearers, the Avatar owners sought 60 per cent of the income, unlike the precedent of 50 to 55 per cent. They were also unaware of the change till they received the contract.

The primary body of Malayalam cinema termed the new conditions of the makers of the Hollywood blockbuster as “unusual.”

Made at a budget of a whopping $400 million, the film is expected to provide the audience with a never-seen-before, immersive experience.
