Buenos Aires: Argentina superstar Angel Di Maria has announced his retirement. Angel Di Maria has announced that he will say goodbye to international football with the Copa America. The star made the announcement through an Instagram post.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Maria thanked her fans, family, co-stars and friends for all their support. The Copa America tournament will be held in the United States next year.
At the same time, Di Maria had previously announced that he would retire after the Qatar World Cup. But after winning the cup, it was decided to play for some more time. Argentina won the last Copa America title against Brazil thanks to Di Maria’s lone goal.
Di María made his debut in Argentina in 2008 and went on to make 134 appearances for the team. Scored 29 goals. Di Maria went on to play in four World Cups.
Di Maria, who has played for giants like Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus and Manchester in his club career, is now lacing up his boots for Portuguese champions Benfica.
