Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 series in September. These premium iOS smartphones could be Apple’s most expensive to date, leaked prices have indicated.
The Apple iPhone 15 series should include the base iPhone 15, the mid-level iPhone 15 Pro, and the top-end iPhone 15 Pro Max. Some reports suggest there could be two more iOS smartphones in the series: iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Ultra. Let’s look at the latest rumors which claim significantly upgraded camera modules and the bumped-up prices.
iPhone 15 | Plus Models To Get 48MP Primary Camera?
TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that Apple will launch the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus with a new 48MP rear camera. For comparison, the iPhone 14 | Plus models have a 12MP primary camera.
Kuo claims that the Cupertino company will include the higher-resolution camera sensor from Sony with a stacked CMOS Image Sensor (CIS). This new sensor could be the new “Periscope Lens” which would allow significantly more zoom capabilities in the iPhone 15 models.
Kuo has additionally claimed that Sony has scaled production of the CIS for Apple “by 100-120 percent”. Apple could be Sony’s biggest buyer for this new lens, and the Japanese tech giant is reportedly putting Android smartphone manufacturers on hold.
Last year’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus had a dual 12MP rear camera setup. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max featured an improved camera setup that allowed buyers to click 48MP ProRAW photos. The same feature could now trickle down to the iPhone 15 | Plus models.
iPhone 15 Series iOS Smartphones Prices Leaked
An analyst at Barclays has revealed the starting price of all four iPhone models. If these prices are accurate, all the iOS smartphones in the iPhone 15 series will be more expensive than the iPhone 14 models.
According to Tim Long, a Barclays analyst, the iPhone series is about to receive a significant price bump. It is interesting to note that rumors claim Apple won’t increase the price of the entry-level iPhone 15. This suggests the Apple iPhone 15 will cost $799 (approx. ₹65,500) and the iPhone 15 Plus could be priced at $899 (approx. ₹73,700).
The smaller iPhone 15 Pro model will be launched for $1099 (approx. ₹90,100), the latest leak claims. The most expensive Apple iPhone to date would be the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will see a price bump of $200 over the existing 14 Pro Max, the latest report claims.
Apple may launch its top-of-the-line iPhone at a starting price of $1299 (₹1,06,500). The iPhone 14 Pro Max retailed in India for ₹1,39,000 but it launched in the US for $1099 (roughly Rs 90,100).
This time, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be slightly cheaper in India or available at the same price in the US. This is because Apple may have actively ramped up the production of the iPhone 15 series smartphones in India. Being produced in India, Indian buyers could benefit from reliable availability as well.
