The 68th National Film Awards were announced on Friday (July 22) evening in New Delhi, and actress Aparna Balamurali bagged the Best Actress award for her performance in the Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’.
The much delighted actress celebrated her major win by cutting a cake on the sets of her next Malayalam film ‘Ini Utharam’ in Pollachi.
I owe this award to the director of the film, Sudha who was strongly behind me and supported me at every moment. This film was released during the Covid period and we all really missed a proper theatre release. But now with this, I feel really excited and elated and just cannot express my emotions and feelings,” Aparna Balamurali told the press.
‘Soorarai Pottru’ directed by Sudha Kongara won 5 National Awards this year – Best Feature Film, Best Actor (Suriya), Best Actress (Aparrna Balamurali), Best Screenplay (Shalini Usha Nair and Sudha Kongara), and Music Director-Background Score (G V Prakash Kumar).
Meanwhile, Aparna Balamurali and Kalabhavan Shajon are playing the lead characters in ‘Ini Utharam’, directed by Sudheesh Ramachandran and scripted by Ranjith Unni. The taglines of the film reads, “Every answer has a question.”
