After the reports of Walmart trying to strike a deal with Flipkart, Amazon too has made an offer to Flipkart. It is reported that Amazon is in talks with Flipkart in terms of buying 60 percent stakes of the latter. Going in with the available sources, Amazon has offered Flipkart a breakup fee of $2 Billion. This bid, which is equal to that of the bid offered by Walmart, has landed the Indian e commerce business to an interesting position.
However, Flipkart’s investors and founders were reportedly favoring Walmart over Amazon, while the latter is also seeking a non compete agreement with the Flipkart. The lucrative Indian e commerce space is luring the global players and it has to be seen, who will eventually take control of it.
