Akshay Kumar lauds ‘The Kashmir Files’; Vivek Agnihotri expresses gratitude

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar lauded Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ and said that the former’s movie ‘Bachchan Paandey’ could not do well at the box office.

The Kashmir Files is about the exodus and killings of Kashmiri Pandits residing in Kashmir valley in the 1990s featuring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumaar.

Agnihotri shared a video on Twitter, where Akshay Kumar says, “All of us, we want to tell stories of our country. Some may be well-known, others not as much. For example, Vivek has made The Kashmir Files that brought a painful truth to the fore and shook us all. That it caused my film to flop is a different issue.”

Sharing the video on his Twitter page, Vivek wrote, “Thanks @akshaykumar for your appreciation for #TheKashmirFiles.”

Akshay Kumar was speaking at the Chitra Bharati Film Festival in Bhopal. The Kashmir Files has earned ₹211.83 in India alone in just two weeks of its release. Meanwhile, Bachchan Paandey which hit the theatres a week after The Kashmir Files, failed to impress audience and earned less than Rs 50 crore.
