A young man from Thiruvananthapuram lost his sight after his girlfriend attacked his with acid. Sheeba, a native of Adimali, was taken into police custody in the incident. CCTV footage of the attack has been released by the police. The incident took place last Tuesday near a church at Adimali Iron Bridge. Sheeba approached the young man who was standing back and poured acid on his face. After observing things, Sheeba can be seen walking slowly from the spot. Friends who were with the young man rushed him to a hospital in Adimali. He was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College for further treatment.
The young man and Sheeba got acquainted through social media. This acquaintance later turned into love. Sheeba later found out that she was married and mother of two children, after knowing this he tried to end the relationship. But Sheeba was constantly approaching the young man with the request to marry him. Sheeba later threatened to pay Rs 2 lakh and the young man was summoned to Adimali to discuss related matters. The police recorded the statement of the youth. Sheeba was taken into police custody from her husband’s house. They were also injured when the acid fell on their hands.
