A human skeleton found inside Karivattam campus was exhumed in an adventurous manner; Including DNA testing

Thiruvananthapuram: A human skeleton found inside the Thiruvananthapuram campus of Kerala University has been exhumed.

The police and fire brigade came down and took out the skeleton. Forensic experts also descended on Tankin for examination.

It was a very adventurous descent inside the old water tank which was 20 feet deep. The skeleton was found inside an old water authority tank attached to the campus's botany department yesterday.

The skeleton was found through the manhole of the water tank when the campus staff came to clean the area. After being informed, the Kazhakootam police and fire brigade reached the spot and inspected the spot.

But the skeleton was not retrieved yesterday as it would raise the risk of retrieving the 20-feet-deep skeleton without adequate safety.

Then this morning, the forensic team, the fire brigade and the police reached the spot and started the process of removing the skeleton.

The team disembarked after making security arrangements in the 20 feet deep tank. Since the tank had not been opened for a long time, precautions had been taken for this.

Dog squad also reached the spot and conducted an inspection. It has been decided to include DNA testing.
The police will also look into the complaints filed at various police stations regarding missing persons.

The police informed that a detailed investigation will be conducted to find out the identity of the skeleton and remove the mystery.
