Kochi: Former government lawyer PG Manu surrendered to the police in the case of rape of Atijeetu who sought legal help. He surrendered at the Ernakulam Puthankurish Police Station.
PG Manu's anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the High Court and the Supreme Court. Earlier, PG Manu approached the Supreme Court even though the High Court told him to surrender to the police.
The surrender came after the Supreme Court asked him to appear within 10 days.
In 2018, this young woman was another victim of harassment. Based on what the police officer said, the woman, who was a victim of torture, approaches lawyer PG Manu for legal advice.
But the complaint is that the young woman was called to Manu's office in Kadavantra and was forcibly tortured in the name of providing legal assistance.
The mentally disturbed girl did not tell her family about the torture at first. According to the complaint given by the woman to Aluva Rural SP, the harassment took place on October 9 and 10.
The woman has also given a statement to the police that after being forcibly tortured, she took private pictures on her mobile phone. Based on this, a case was filed against PG Manu under the IT Act.
The woman's lawyer said that Manu put pressure on her not to complain to the police and later asked for an amicable solution.
