57M user information hacked; Uber paid $100K as ransom

In return of the 57M user base information hacked, riding app Uber paid a ransom amount of $100K. According to the available information, it was in October, last year, which hackers managed to get access to Uber’s user base, following which the riding app was forced to play it down. By paying ransom amount, Uber ensured that the hacked data got deleted.

The reports further suggested that Uber had already fired the Chief Security Officer Joe Sullivan and his team for covering up the breach. It must be added here that Uber has been having a tough time these days with back to back issues of change in management, followed by some nasty face offs with Google.
