16-year-old girl gang-rape case in Pooppara: Court sentences all three accused to 90 years in prison

Idukki: In the case of gang-rape of a 16-year-old Bengali girl in Idukki Pooppara, all three accused were sentenced to 90 years in prison and 40,000 rupees. Devikulam fast track court verdict.

Sugandh, Sivakumar from Tamil Nadu and Shyam from Poopara were sentenced to 90 years imprisonment and Rs.40,000 fine.

There were six accused in the case. Two of them are minors and their case is being considered by Thodupuzha Juvenile Justice Board. A man was acquitted yesterday due to lack of evidence in the case.

At the same time, after examining the scientific evidence and the circumstances, the three accused were sentenced. The court did not consider the plea of ​​the defendant that the accused should be given the minimum sentence as the accused are young. The total jail term is 90 years under various sections. All the punishments should be served together for 25 years.

On the evening of May 29, 2022, a sixteen-year-old girl from West Bengal was gang-raped by the accused in a tea garden in Poopara. While he was sitting in the tea garden with his friend, a gang of six came and beat him and raped him.
