Popular file sharing website Wetransfer.com banned in India. The Department of Telecom has banned the use of the portal. According to the DOT the decision is based on the public interest and national interest. Mumbai Mirror reports that the Telecom Ministry has sent a notice to various telecom & internet service providers in the country to remove the three URLs related to We Transfer.
We Transfer is a service that millions of people use to transfer large files over the Internet. With the increase in people working from home in the wake of the lockdown, there has been a huge increase in the use of the We Transfer. With WeTransfer could transfer files up to 2GB without having to create an account on the website.
The government does not specify what kind of error the website has made to ban We Transfer in India. Meanwhile, this is not the first time websites have been blocked in the country. Websites that contain malware, porn websites and websites that threaten national security are banned in India earlier.
