In a revolutionary decision taken by WhatsApp officials, they have raised the minimum age limit of users for using the messaging service in Europe. Owned by Facebook Inc, the minimum age limit to use WhatsApp has been raised to 16 from the existing age of 13. This is part of the new data privacy rules to hit Europe next month. However, it is not clear that how WhatsApp would be checking the age of its users. On the other hand, Facebook is following a different data privacy policy, that teens aged between 13 and 15, would have to nominate a parent or guardian. Teen users of Facebook, can share any information on the platform, only if the parent or guardian gives permission.
It must be mentioned right here in that the revised age limit policy is only applicable to European Union countries. For the rest of the world, the minimum age to use WhatsApp will remain 13.
