The year 2020 will be a year of many changes for the Indian automobile market. The advent of the BS6 Pollution Control Act, the Indian Crash Test and the advent of more electric vehicles will make 2020 more likely. All vehicles currently sold in India will be upgraded to BS standards. However, manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki have announced that they will stop short diesel engines in view of the high cost of upgrading small diesel engines to BS6 standards. That would make many diesel cars disappear from the market.
