Director Vidhu Vincent has left the WCC (Women in Cinema Collective). A founding member of the organization, Vidhu maintained that she decided to leave the organization because of her personal – political reasons. While leaving a note on social media pages, Vidhu said that her friends in the media world should consider this as an announcement. She used to be the mouthpiece for the organization, many at a time and her withdrawal from the organization is sure to have wondered the public.
Before leaving, Vidhu said that she would extend her support to WCC and wished to organization all the success in its effort to create films for women and create a woman-friendly atmosphere both inside and outside the cinema. She also wished the organization the courage to have self criticism in its journey ahead.
The Women in Cinema Collective got launched by forwarding a complaint to the Chief Minister demanding stringent action and transparent investigation in the case of an actress being abused. Subsequently WCC has gone onto become a notable organization in addressing the issues of female artists in the industry.
