Washington: The first vaccine against coronavirus was tested in humans. Vaccine maker Modena, an American company claimed that they had found promising results. In the first phase, eight people were tested for the vaccine. According to Modena, body’s of the samples produced antibodies to prevent the spread of coronavirus, thereby validating the lab results.
The pharmaceutical company claimed that the vaccine produced antibody in the sample’s bodies, which was similar to the antibody found in people who survived the coronoavirus, a significant breakthrough. The first phase of the trial, held in March, was successful; the second phase would soon begin among 600 people. The third phase of testing is set to take place by July, expected to be conducted among 1000 people.
If the vaccine proves to be effective in Phase III trials, the industrial-based production would begin by 2021. Out from the three doses tested – Low, Medium, and High – the first two doses produced red rashes and pain at the site of vaccine for a person; however, three people, when administered the high-dose vaccines, showed signs of fever, muscle pain and headaches.
