Two private buses in Kozhikode were subject to the attack by unidentified persons. The private buses owned by Kolakkadans were at the receiving end of the attack. The buses were attacked at the parking lot, where they completed their last day’s service. The owner, while responding to the queries, said that, he had received threats from some people over the decision of running the buses. It was in the last week that the owner of the buses announced that he would resume the service, in accordance with directions from the government.
For the past few days, some private buses have been operating in Kozhikode city and rural areas – including those that were attacked – despite the threat. In spite of being attacked, Kolakkadans continues running their unaffected buses. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, private buses are already available in many places in the district.
