Tightening its user policy, twitter announced that users are liable for losing the verification badge in twitter, provided that they violate the rules and guidelines set forward by twitter. Tweeting about the same, twitter announced that they were conducting an initial review of the existing verified accounts, following which they would decide the validity of the ‘verified badge’ of them. It must be noted right here in that twitter had already suspended the account verification process earlier this week.
It was after the public row associated with twitter giving verified badge to Jason Kessler, organizer of white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that prompted twitter in reviewing their user policy. Twitter officials however added that upon the introduction of a better authentication and verification programme, the company might restart giving ‘verification badge’.
