In the wake of the Covid expansion, the triple lockdown imposed in Malappuram district has been withdrawn. As in other districts, there will be a normal lockdown in Malappuram from Monday. The lockdown was extended to June 9 with concessions across the state.
The triple lockdown was announced in four districts, including Malappuram, following the outbreak of Covid. But the triple lockdown in the other three districts was withdrawn a week ago due to lower test positivity rates. In Malappuram too, the TPR has dropped significantly this week. The test positive rate in Malappuram on Friday was 13.3 per cent.
Meanwhile, the district collector has not withdrawn the strict control announced in Malappuram on Sunday. The shops selling essential items will not be open tomorrow.
