Byte Dance who’s headquarters is in China planning to shift their head of operations to outside of China.The new move comes after Disney’s Kevin Meyer took over as the CEO of Byte Dance. Byte Dance is the owner of Tik Tok, famous short video streaming platform. The company is moving out of China, which currently the regulatory center for the company’s various services globally. In the meantime, Tik Tok’s research and development engineering operations in Mountain View, California have been further developed. It is reported that more than 150 engineers have been hired here.
Byte Dance has also hired an investor relations director from New York to stay in touch with top investors such as General Atlantic and KKR. Earlier, these were controlled from China. The move by Byte Dance is noteworthy, given that the US-China trade dispute is raging. The United States is taking stern action against companies with global roots in China or relationship with China. There is also an investigation is going on against Tik Tok in the United States.
The new moves are part of the company’s efforts to migrate from China to the US. So far, the engineering team in the US has reported to Chinese managers, but in the US, the process of hiring top executives is going on.
