Ookla Speedtest Global Index 2017 has released the table of the performance of various countries during the past 12 months, in terms of internet speed. As per the data released by the company, India has witnessed a jump of 76.9 percent in terms of its fixed broadband speed in 2017. It must be added here that, with this impressive figure, India has overtaken the traditional powerhouses such as the US, Japan and China, in terms of growth of average download speed.
This is an impressive feat for India, especially since the average speed of the country is used to find place at the bottom table, most often. Well, for the record, India has an average fixed broadband download speed of 18.82Mbps in November 2017.
