Vidu Vincent has come up yet another social media post, in which she comes up with an explanation on whey she left WCC. Commenting on the critical comments that she had to face after her announcement, Vidhu said that there were several undesirable practices inside WCC, which she found unbearable. She added that her intention upon joining the organization was to uphold the motto of equality for women – be it in films or the public space. However, Vidhu’s latest social media post suggested that WCC wasn’t out from the clutches of hegemony.
It comes evident that Vidhu’s ouster was the result of a propaganda that formed between certain members in the WCC. Going in line with the version of Vidhu, there were some conflicts of interest surrounded with her movie ‘Standup’. The movie was a joint production venture of B Unnikrishnan and Anto Joseph. Reportedly, WCC was unhappy over Vidhu’s association with B Unnikrishnan. The close relationship that B Unnikrishnan keeps with Dileep, is said to be the prime reason behind this feud. In the social media post, Vidhu made it clear that financial burdens were creeping back on her. She also added that she knew B Unnikrishnan even before entering the industry.
However, Vidhu maintained that, several members of WCC had an active engagement with people, who are close to Dileep. She cited the examples of Deedi Damodaran, Remya Nambeesan and most prominently Parvathy Thiruvoth. According to Vidhu, she didn’t face a good response from Parvathy, when Vidhu presented the script to her. Interestingly, Deedi’s daughter was all set to associate with B Unnikrishnan for a project; however, it was then that B Unnikrishnan had shown interest with ‘Standup’ and overlook the project of Deedi Damodaran’s daughter. Vidhu, however maintained that she could never see Deedi Damodaran as someone, who upholds nepotism.
