Thrissur: Thrissur Archdiocese has announced that it is with Thiruvambadi and Paramekkav Devaswams on the issue of increased ground rent of Thrissur Pooram Exhibition Ground.
Bishop Mar Andrews further said that problems should be discussed and resolved for the smooth conduct of Pooram and there would be no Thrissur without Pooram.
The church has come forward to support the Devaswams when the discussion called by the government is about to take place in the crisis over the increase in the rent of the Pooram Exhibition Ground.
Paramekkav and Thiruvampadi Devaswom officials who came to wish Christmas at the archdiocesan institution expressed their gratitude for the stand.

The Devaswams also informed that they expect a decision to withdraw the increased rent in the evening discussion.
The President of Thiruvampadi Devaswom said that the ground should be given free of charge. The Devaswoms also informed that they are expecting a favorable position in the discussion called by the Devaswom Minister in the evening.
Exhibition is the main source of income for Pooram management. Last year, the Cochin Devaswom Board collected 39 lakhs from the two Devaswoms.
But this year it has been increased to two crore twenty lakhs. Both the Devaswams came forward against this. He asked the Cochin Devaswom Board to abandon the move that would put Pooram in crisis.
The government decided to call for a discussion as the protests intensified. Devaswom Minister K. Radhakrishnan, Revenue Minister K. Rajan will participate in the discussion.
