While replying to the questions raised by the High Court of Kerala, the Kerala government maintained that it was ready to face the threats of flood this year. However, the state also maintained that the current situation doesn’t demand the state to open dams. Assuring the High Court that every step would be taken to ensure the survival of the state in the coming monsoon, the state added that the dams have an action plan to deal with heavy rains.
Last two years have been one of the most tested phases in the recent history of Kerala government. Back to back floods in 2018 and 2019, have evoked unprecedented financial burden on the state. With the arrival of Covid 19 this year, a grave financial situation has grappled the state.
