Sharp decrease in JEE application

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is something, which receives one of the most sought after examinations in India. The examination is a gateway for the bright minds of the country for studying in premier institutes like IIT and NIT. Recently CBSE released the details of the number of applications, which the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) received this year. Well, it has revealed a certain trend – that of decrease in the number of applications compared to the previous year. A total of 11.48 lakh students have applied for JEE 2018, whereas the figure for 2016 stood at 11.99 lakh. It has to be noted that for the past four years, there is a steady decrease in the number of JEE applications.

The years of 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively received 13.56 lakh, 13.04 lakh and 12.07 lakh applications. The steady decrease in the number of applications, suggests a lack of interest, which students have for engineering subjects. JEE 2018 will take place on the dates of April 8th, 15th and 16th, across various centers in India.
