Amidst a whole lot of controversies surrounding the reel and life character of ‘Kuruvachan’, director Shaji Kailas said that he wouldn’t back off from the project ‘Kaduva’ starring Prithviraj. While reacting to the reporters regarding the controversy, Shaji Kailas maintained that his movie was not about the real life character of Jose Kuruvinakkunnel from Pala. The veteran director said that ‘Kaduva’ was the story of a young planter, which has nothing to do with the real life character of Jose. He also said that often people create controversy without knowing it.
While commenting on Jose Kuruvinakkunnel’s claim that he had given consent to only Ranji Panicker, for making a film out of his life, Shaji Kailas stated that he know Ranji Panicker very well and they had planned to make a film based on this character years back. However, the current script by Jinu Abraham was completely different. Further, Shaji Kailas claimed that only he and Prithviraj had read the entire script of ‘Kaduva’. Stating that the character of Kaduvakkunnel Kuruvachan is purely a fictional character, Shaji Kailas however reiterated that Jose has the right to take any action but the film has nothing to do with his life.
Commenting on the project that Jose Kuruvinakkunnel mentioned, Shaji Kailas said that the film was to be produced by Ashirvad Cinemas with Mohanlal in the lead role. However, for some reason the movie didn’t happen. ‘Kaduva’, which was announced a year ago, however had run into trouble, as ‘SG 250’ got announced, which is stated as the 250th movie of Suresh Gopi. Citing plagiarism, Jinu Abraham had filed a lawsuit against ‘SG 250’; subsequently, the court banned the promotion of ‘SG 250’ using the character’s name ‘Kuruvinakkunnel Kuruvachan’.
