According to Yongin Park, EVP, Head of Sensor Business Team of Samsung, the human eye can distinguish 500-megapixel resolution compared to the current smartphone’s resolution. Samsung launched its 64MP camera with 2 × 2 pixel binning sensors in May 2019. Six months after the launch of the 64MP, Samsung launched the 108MP camera sensor. The company has launched 108MP camera with better light absorption and sensors. Samsung has only taken six months to reach 108 MP sensors, so the 600 MP camera sensor is likely to be launched soon.
According to a post by Samsung Newsroom, the company is focusing on improving image sensors but this camera technology is not limited to the smartphone field. Samsung’s work on Pixel technology is strong. The post also states that Samsung will increase the depth of image sensors and use it in different areas such as drones, autonomous vehicles and the Internet of Things (IoT).
