South Korean giant Samsung has offered a stock split. The major contribution for the record profit seen in last year was mainly due to the memory chip ‘Super Cycle’. The stock split decision has given investors 5.8 trillion in terms of annual dividends and 9.2 trillion in terms of share buybacks and cancellations in 2017. Analysts observed that the stock split decision would also open up the door for retail investors. While announcing the stock split, the tech giant maintained that it expects to see a surge in the semiconductor business in 2018.
That said the stock split decision has brought an increase of more than 8 percent to the share values of the firm.
