Rajinikanth says no work for last six months, court orders tax evasion, court rules

Rajinikanth is the biggest superstar the Indian cinema world has ever seen. He has been active in Tamil cinema for the last 40 years. He is also one of the highest paid actors in India. But recently the Municipal Corporation had taken Rs. 650,000 in taxes from him. Rajinikanth did not like the move and approached the court.

Rajinikanth had approached the Madras High Court. The petition seeks a refund of Rs 6 lakh and Rs 50,000 purchased by the Chennai Municipal Corporation from him. Rajinikanth has a wedding hall in Kodambakkam. The building tax was paid by the municipal corporation.

But the wedding hall has not been open for the past six months. There is no significant income from this. Therefore, Rajini argued in court that the municipal corporation should return the Rs 6 lakh and Rs 50,000 bought from him.

But the court did not see that he was a superstar. The court also dismissed the petition, warning not to waste court time with such a case. The court added that there was no connection between income and tax.

Rajinikanth immediately withdrew the petition after receiving such a reference from the court. The court also scolded him for imposing a fine if he still comes with a petition. Rajinikanth is currently starring in Siruthai Siva’s Annathe. The film is being produced under the banner of Sun Productions. The film is produced by Kalanidhi Maran.
