Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday conveyed his best wishes on the occasion of Vishu to the Malayalis all over the world.
PM Modi tweeted, “Best wishes on the special occasion of Vishu, especially to the Malayalis settled all over the world. I pray for a year filled with utmost happiness and good health.”

The Prime Minister also greeted people of West Bengal on the occasion of Poila Boisakh.
Vishu is celebrated and observed to mark the first day of the Medam, the ninth month according to the Malayalam calendar. Earlier Chingam was considered to be the new year.
Lord Krishna is worshipped on the occasion of Vishu and his idol is placed in Vishu kani.
